Stuck with the piles of work, feeling low, not interested or confused where to start from? No problem most of the people have this habit of procrastinating their work/things. Even I used to procrastinate my work but now I have developed my habits to stop procrastination for achieving my goals. Thus, here I am sharing 5 simple steps to beat procrastination.
Foremost tip for a person is to realize that they are procrastinating their work and in turn living a stressful life (stress of not completing the work). There maybe many different reasons for procrastination for example..,the work or the project you have to work on is so important that you're just finding the right time to start it but keeps on procrastinating. The other reason could be you're not having a plan to start your work just as you don't know where to start from? To overcome from all these problems, here's the list of 5 simple and easy steps to stop this and get things done.
1. Think of Results: Here you have to think of the results that you will get upon completion of your work. Also realize the importance of your work for example.., just imagine you are given an assignment to complete but you're just procrastinating it so realize what benefits you'll get upon completion of the assignment which maybe you'll prepare your notes or you'll be studying the concepts. So, think of far.
2. Avoid Distractions: Next step is to avoid all the distractions so that you can focus on your work. There could be various distractions like..,distractions coming from outside or from your neighbourhood for this sit and work in a separate room and make sure before starting your work that you have all the resources in that room like your laptop, files, notebooks and other stationery items. If possible keep your phone on silent and set a target that you will not use your phone before completing your work and if it is necessary that you have to use Internet i.e., your phone then firstly switch off all your notifications and then start your work.
3. Plan your work: There is a popular saying.,
"An hour of planning can save your 10 hours of doing."
Above quote makes it all clear that before starting your work it is important to have a picture of the things that you have to work on. So paper pen a picture of your work that you have to work on or make a roadmap so that it becomes easy for you to implement.
4. Implementation: Now as from the 4th step you have a plan to work on so just implement it. Keep it simple and break your work in small sessions, take proper breaks and have some snacks in between and keep yourself hydrated. If something fails or doesn't work out as you have desired..don't lose hope keep practicing.
5. Ask for reviews: And here comes the last step., in this step you have to share your work with your family, friends and colleagues. There words will boost your confidence and will impart an energy within you to do the work with more hard work. And if someone gives you an advice to improve it don't feel bad and work on that with your own sense.
